|Re-opening 1 September Following severe Tropical Cyclone Winston that hit Fiji on 21 February this year, VOMO was forced to temporarily close to conduct necessary repairs. Unfortunately, the extent of the damage was worse than originally thought. The main areas of damage sustained were |
• The roofing
• Aluminium joinery - doors and windows
• Air conditioning units
• Main kitchen
As the Fijians like to say "We are stronger than Winston" and indeed we are. We are getting VOMO back to her natural self as quickly as we can. Teams of tradesmen are on VOMO, working solidly to replace all of the above-mentioned areas and to ensure our re-open date of 1st September is absolutely adhered to. We will be finished just prior to this date, giving us additional time for training our team back from construction into hospitality. Although we were hit hard by the cyclone, it gave us a unique opportunity to make some subtle changes that will be seen on reopening, to continue to give VOMO the ‘edge’!

To those who have had their travel plans interrupted, we are truly sorry for this unavoidable delay and anxiously await the opportunity to welcome everyone back home to VOMO.
Landscaping specialist ‘Meli’, originally from New Zealand, has been working with our grounds team and absolutely transformed our gardens with fresh, vibrant plants, bursting with colourful and fragrant blooms. Meli has also cleverly added back native species that were removed over the years. There are new flowers blooming everywhere and new species of bird-life not seen on VOMO before. The results are stunning and our island paradise is glowing!
